Sacramento Area Pool Coping Specialists
It’s the small details that help your swimming pool stand out from ordinary pools. One of the finishing touches of the pool and pool deck is the coping. Pool Coping is the cap on the edge of a swimming pool or spa which is mounted on the bond beam. It covers the concrete edges of the bond beam, conceals the steel projecting from the pool’s walls, prevents water from getting behind the pool shell, and integrates the finish and tile of the swimming pool. Your choice of pool coping is a small detail that can make a big difference. Not only is pool coping one of the most important elements in the structure of your swimming pool, it is also a smart way to add texture to your pool design.
The alternative to pool coping is continuous decking material up to the edge of the pool; however, this option limits your ability to tie in other materials. Pool coping is the right choice if you want a stylish, visual edge to the pool.
Rough Cut
Made from from rough stone such as brick, concrete, cast stone or flagstone, the rough cut coping gives the pool a natural or casual look. It has a textured edge and is often seen around waterfall water features. The stone options come in an array of styles and colors, including flagstone, brick, and slate. Choosing the right pool coping makes a big difference in the overall look of your pool.
Bull Nose
Bull nose coping is made from any type of material including stone (granite, marble, slate,) cast stone (poured concrete), brick, or steel. Many modern options also include travertine, sandstone, limestone and porcelain. The most popular pool coping style, bull nose is characterized by its flat top and rounded edge. For the ultra modern and/or kid friendly pools, this soft edge coping style is your best bet!
Safety Grip
Safety Grip pool coping typically has smooth edges which are rolled into a thick mass that points upward with no sharp edges surrounding the pool. It is usually made from concrete, brick or cast stone, and offers a rounded edge that is ideal for swimmers to hold onto while in an inground pool. Safety Grip pool coping is often favored among pool owners for its practicality, safety and visual appeal.
Cantilever
Lends a modern look to your swimming pool. The main characteristic of the cantilever coping options is the classic “L” shape created from a straight design on top that runs out past the edge of the pool, then drops down a bit, forming a 90 degree angle. This gives the optical illusion that the decking material is larger or thicker and more pronounced than it actually is.

Actual finish and water color may differ from digitally reproduced samples on this web site. The water’s depth, angle of sunlight and surrounding landscape can all be determining factors. Water color may differ slightly as variations in shade and contrast are natural. Pebble Technology, Inc., strongly recommends viewing pools before deciding on a color. Your pool builder/installer may be able to provide pools to view.
Disclaimer: Some colors contain seashells, such as abalone and mother of pearl. The shells are made up of material from seawater and from a living mollusk. Due to the nature of shell materials and variables of water chemistry, Pebble Technology, Inc., cannot guarantee the shell materials against long-term degradation or changes in color or brilliance.
