Pool Replastering in Sacramento, CA

Pool Replastering in Sacramento, CA

Your pool’s plaster takes a beating year after year, and here in Sacramento, it works even harder. Long, hot summers keep pools in constant use, and the intense sun and hard water common to the Sacramento Valley wear down plaster faster than most homeowners expect. When that smooth finish starts to fail, replastering is the way to bring your pool back to life.

At Adams Pool & Landscape Specialties, we have spent decades helping Sacramento homeowners restore their pools with replastering that lasts. Our team brings the craftsmanship and attention to detail that turns a tired, worn pool into one you are proud to swim in again.

What Your Neighbors Are Saying About Us

Debbie N.
Adams Pools made our dream come true. Their pebble finish makes our pool so beautiful. The turquoise color of the water is jaw dropping. The crew that came out were prompt, friendly and very professional. I recommend them to anyone looking for a pebble finish that offers the same quality if not better than Pebble Tec. Our pool looks amazing! Thank you Adams Pool! 🙂

We called Adams pools and made an appointment for Matt to come out. From the beginning, he was straight forward, friendly and professional. We chose our tiles and finish, were informed of the prices and scheduled when the work was to be done. We were met with no surprises at all. The work stages were completed as scheduled, all the crews were friendly, and professional. They answered all our questions and cleaned up when they were done.

We hired Adams Pool to install new plaster and tile in our 30 year old pool. They were highly recommended by friends and quoted the best price among several companies that we spoke to. They started our project promptly, and proceeded very quickly. Throughout the process, they were responsive and helpful. Work crews were friendly, efficient and scrupulous about cleaning up and showing care not to disturb landscaping, etc.

The workers were hardworking, timely, as quiet as they could be, and did a wonderful job, keeping workplace clean as they went. Billing was easy and efficient. All in all they did a top notch job and we are extremely pleased with everything.

Thank you to Rodger and the rest of the crew at Adams Pools! My wife and I were very impressed with everything from your workmanship to your follow through. Our pool and spa turned out exactly as we had designed and we can't thank you enough for making this happen. We appreciate that your crew were always friendly and it's obvious your company takes good care of them.

Just had our pool rebuilt by Adams Pool. Fill in to reduce depth to four feet, chip out old plaster and replace with Adams Pebble Plus (similar to Pebble Tech) and replace deck edge with travertine. The sales staff was very expert and helpful, no pressure at all. Turned out beautiful. The crews were very professional, everyone knew exactly what to do and the work is first class.

Signs Your Pool Needs Replastered

Plaster problems show up gradually, so it helps to know what to look for. Here are the most common signs your Sacramento pool is due for replastering:

  • Rough or gritty surfaces
  • Stains that won’t scrub out
  • Visible cracks or crazing
  • Flaking or peeling plaster
  • Exposed gunite spots
  • Uneven or blotchy discoloration
  • Frequent chemistry imbalances

If you are noticing one or more of these, it is worth having our team take a look before small issues turn into bigger repairs.

What Does Pool Plaster Do?

Plaster is more than just the pretty finish on your pool. It forms a watertight seal over the gunite or concrete shell underneath, keeping water in and protecting the structure from damage. Without healthy plaster, water can seep into the shell, causing problems that cost far more to fix than a resurfacing job.

Plaster also gives your pool its color, texture, and feel. A smooth, well-maintained surface is comfortable on bare feet and makes water chemistry easier to manage. Rough or deteriorating plaster does the opposite, harboring algae and throwing your chemical balance off.

In a climate like Sacramento’s, plaster faces extra stress—triple-digit summer heat, intense UV exposure, and the region’s hard water all accelerate wear. Most plaster lasts somewhere between 7 and 12 years here, though good water chemistry and regular care can stretch that lifespan.

Our Pool Replastering Process

Every replastering project we take on starts with a thorough inspection. We assess the condition of your existing plaster, check the shell underneath for cracks or damage, and talk through your options for finishes and colors. You will know exactly what to expect before any work begins.

Once the plan is set, we drain the pool and prep the surface. This means chipping out or bonding over the old plaster, repairing any cracks in the shell, and ensuring the surface is ready to receive the new finish. Prep work is where quality is won or lost, and it is a step we never rush.

From there, our crew applies the new plaster by hand, troweling it to a smooth, even finish. After application, we refill the pool and walk you through the startup process, since proper water chemistry in those first few weeks is critical to how your new plaster cures. We stay available throughout the startup to make sure everything is set up the way it should.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does pool replastering take?

Most replastering projects take about 1 to 2 weeks from drain to refill, depending on your pool’s size and any shell repairs needed along the way.

Plaster in the Sacramento area typically lasts 7 to 12 years. Our hot summers, strong sun, and hard water can shorten that window, while good water chemistry helps extend it.

Yes, though extreme heat requires extra care during application and curing. Our crews adjust their approach during Sacramento’s hottest months to make sure the plaster cures properly.

In addition to traditional white plaster, we offer colored plaster, quartz, and pebble finishes. Each has its own look, feel, and lifespan, and we will help you pick the right fit.

You can typically swim once the pool is refilled and the water is balanced, usually within a few days. We will walk you through the startup process to ensure your new finish cures properly.
