Free Swim Lessons at Fruitridge Swim Center
Southgate Recreation & Park District offers free swim lessons at the Fruitridge Swim Center, located at 4000 Fruitridge Rd. Through an ongoing partnership, more than 2,200 free swim lessons have been provided to residents within a two-mile radius of the Fruitridge Swim Center since 2017.
These lessons help community members build confidence in the water while developing essential swimming skills and improving safety around pools, rivers, and other bodies of water.
The Adams Annual Golf Tournament
Each year, our team, partners, and community come together for the Adams Annual Golf Tournament, a signature event that turns a day of camaraderie into life-changing opportunity.
With 100% of proceeds donated to the Southgate Recreation & Park District, the tournament directly funds free swim lessons for low-income families in the Fruitridge community. What makes this program special is its accessibility:
- Lessons are open to children living within a two-mile radius of the Fruitridge Community Center.
- Families provide proof of residency, ensuring the program benefits the neighborhood it’s designed to serve.
- Each session runs for two weeks, with 30-minute classes that give children both skills and confidence in the water.
Since the tournament’s launch in 2019, this effort has funded more than 2,200 free swim lessons for local youth. In 2024 alone, our contributions made 348 lessons possible, equipping children with critical life-saving skills while giving families peace of mind.
